Nic Olney is entering his first season as part of the Adams State athletic family. Fall 2025 will be his first season as the recruiting coordinator and offensive line coach for the ASU football team.
Olney comes to Adams State from the University of Minnesota Morris, where he coached the offensive line, tight ends, and kickers. Under his coaching, three of the five starting offensive linemen earned all-conference recognition, including one all-region selection.
Prior to Minnesota Morris, Olney spent more than 20 years coaching at the high school level at various schools in the Colorado Springs area, including serving as head coach at St. Mary's High School, Widefield and Banning Lewis Prep. He has experience building programs from the ground up, leading Banning Lewis to an undefeated record in four seasons without a losing season during that time.
Olney earned his Bachelor of Science in sport and exercise science from the University of Northern Colorado in 2005. In 2007, he received a Master of Arts in teaching from Grand Canyon University. He later graduated from Adams State in 2011 with a Master of Arts in human performance with an emphasis in coaching before returning in 2014 to earn his educational leadership credential.
Olney played offensive line at Colorado College in Colorado Springs from 1999 to 2001 and currently resides in Alamosa with his son, Todd, who is a student assistant for the football team.
