T&F | Batt Wraps Up Collegiate Career, Turns Pro

ALAMOSA, Colo. (April 24, 2015) – Five-time National Champion and multi All-American, Kevin Batt, announced today that he is pursuing a professional running career. Batt will be managed by Nic Bideau of Melbourne Track Club going forward. Batt made headlines back in March winning two National Championships in a come-from-behind distance medley relay (DMR) race as well as a convincing 3K win -- both of which were national records.

Batt's decision comes after an NCAA waiver was denied appealing three of his junior level national and world competitions prior to his enrollment. Had the competitions been senior level rather than junior competitions the waiver would have been granted. This ruling only applied towards cross country and outdoor track & field.

"I am extremely proud of Kevin and his accomplishments here at Adams State." Head coach Damon Martin said. "He has continued to carry the bar high for ASU cross country and track & field with five individual national titles as well as helping lead the team to five NCAA Championships throughout his career. I wish him the best of luck as he goes forward into his professional career."

Batt's time in Alamosa dates back to the 2011 outdoor season.

"I have been truly honored to wear the Green and White singlet of Adams State and carry on the rich tradition in cross country/track & field." Batt said when reached for comment. "I am also thankful for the friendships, teammates, and professors at ASU that have contributed to my academic and athletic success. I look forward to graduating in two weeks and beginning my next journey."
