Biography
2015: Played 25 matches... Third on team in aces with 12... fourth on team in blocks with 26... lead team with 697 assists... registered 53 assists in 5 set match against Western NMU 11/07/15... 7.92 assists per match for tenth over all in the RMAC
2014: Collegiate debut was at home vs. West Texas A&M on 9/05/14.... Collected 163 digs in 94 sets played..... Started and played in 27 matches as a true Freshmen..... Lead team with over 930 sets and 32 service aces..... Fourth on team with 163 digs....scored 87 points for ASU..... Recorded a career high 61 sets at Texas Women's on 9/6/14.... Also tallied a career high 15 digs at CSU-Pueblo on 10/31/14.
Prep: Played at Fossil Ridge High School, Sabercats, under Paul Shimek. The 2012-2013 season Katelyn received Academic All-Conference 1st Team, Northern All-Conference 1st Team, 8th place finish for 5A State Tournament, and Captain Honors. 2013-2014 season received Academic All-Conference 1st Team, Northern All-Conference 2nd Team, All-State 2nd Team, 5th place 5A finish at State Tournament, and Captain Honors. Katelyn's final season with the Sabercats was successful, breaking a team record with a 25-1 record, Regional Champions and placing 5th at 5A State Tournament.
Club: Katelyn played for NORCO Jrs for 8 years. Last season she was under Jared Rudiger. Katelyn competed in 3 Junior Olympics (13s,16s,and 17s) and 2 AAU Tournaments. (14s, 17s) She received Captain Honors, numerous MVP and setting awards. She was named Regional All-Star Athlete 2009-2014.
Academics: Plans on majoring in Physical Therapy/Sports Medicine. Katelyn's career plan is to be a physical therapist. Graduated from Fossil Ridge with a 3.78 gpa receiving Academic All-Conference 1st Team for her junior and senior year.
Off the Court: Born April 5, 1996. Daughter of Krista and Robert Schwartz, Katelyn has a twin brother Chris Schwartz (18). Krista Schwartz (Mom) played volleyball for the University of Wyoming (89-93). Katelyn hobbies inlcude, art, drawing, listening to music, and hanging out with friends. Her favorites inlcude; movie- Remember the Titans & Miracle, food- watermelon, sports team- Colorado Avalanche.
