Individual ResultsDENVER (November 22, 2014) – The Adams State University women's cross country team went 1-2-3 at the NCAA Division II South Central Region Championships en route to claiming the team title with 21 points. ASU dominated as Western State Colorado University, who placed second, tallied a far distant 99 points.
Leading the Grizzlies were
Maura O'Brien,
Rachel Kresl, and
Lauren Martin who were the trio to finish 1-2-3.
O'Brien finished in 22:15 as the top individual medalist and bested Kresl who crossed second with a time of 22:31. Martin took third, also in a time of 22:31, as she was bested by Kresl by the slimmest of margins. Â
Adams State controlled the race with a total team time of 1:53:13 en route to the program's third consecutive regional title. It also marks the 18
th regional title for
Damon Martin as the women's head coach.
The win secures ASU's spot at the NCAA Division II National Championships on Dec. 6
th in Louisville, Ky.
A total of seven runners for ASU were named to the USTFCCCA All-Central Region team at the conclusion of the race. A complete list of the All-Central Region team is listed below.
